Sue Masters

The third of five children, Sue was born in Geraldton and spent some of her early years as a ‘misso’s kid’ in the deserts of east Western Australia where she developed a love of wide open spaces and had many aboriginal friends. Moving back to Geraldton at the age of 8, she remained there until, secondary school all over, she went to the ‘big city’ to attend Bible College.

Sue has always loved language and people and, according to her family, the ability to relate to people of all ages. This lead to her beginning a degree in English and Communications at Murdoch, which involved not just an appreciation of written language, but theatre performance and radio programming. Unfortunately due to the pull of family and life pressures, the degree was never completed. She married and settled down to life as wife to school chaplain and youth pastor, Neil, and mother to 2 beautiful children, Kiriath and Jordan.

Living in country WA for 17 years meant Sue didn’t have the opportunity to actively pursue a career in communications, but continued to work with people in a number of different capacities, including dental assistant, school office reception and as a bank teller. She kept her skills alive all the while by leading ladies Bible study groups, supervising Sunday School and acting in amateur theatre productions. The dream to reach larger numbers of people was kept on the back burner, but simmered still.

A move to Perth in 2007 to be again involved in church ministry saw Sue struggle as she tried to discover what God had in store for her. She rediscovered her love of speaking, entertaining, and leading people in worship through a more prominent role in church life than had been previously possible. And then God again proved His faithfulness by opening the door for her to work at Sonshine FM. It is the fruitition of a long-held dream and Sue feels her mandate from God involves sharing the abundant joy He has placed in her heart with all she comes in contact with.

Sue’s favourite pastimes involve spending time with family, friends and her 2 Burmese cats, cooking and entertaining, designing and sewing her own clothes, playing the piano, reading and solving puzzles.
